Mrs. Marie-Hélène Gauthier completed her law degree at the Faculté de droit of the Université de Montréal in 1993 and was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1994. In 1995, she then completed a post-graduate degree in business from the École des hautes études commerciales.

In 2017, she became a member of the Institut de médiation et d’arbitrage du Québec as a certified mediator. Since 2011, she teaches in the Département des sciences juridiques of the Université du Québec à Montréal and has also taught at the Faculté de l’aménagement of the Institut d’urbanisme de l’Université de Montréal.

Being a part-time member of the BAPE since 2012, she served as a commissioner on the projet de stabilisation de berge et de réparation de structure de soutènement en bordure du fleuve Saint-Laurent par la Ville de Boucherville and on the projet de réaménagement de la rue Jacques-Cartier à Gatineau. She has also chaired the public inquiry commission on the projet de ligne d’interconnexion Québec–New Hampshire and the public inquiry and mediation commissions on the projet de prolongement d’un gazoduc entre Saint-Sébastien et Pike River.
