Live Internet Broadcast of the First Part
of the Public Hearings
Québec, March 29,
2004 – The Commission entrusted with
the mandate for the inquiry and public hearings on
the stakes related to seismic surveys in the St. Lawrence
Gulf and Estuary hereby announces a live, audio broadcast
of the entire first part of the public hearing proceedings
on the BAPE website at: www.bape.gouv.qc.ca.
This internet audio broadcast will allow any interested
persons to follow the interventions taking place during
the public hearings scheduled to begin on April 5,
2004 in Rimouski, April 13 in the Magdalen Islands,
and the following week in Gaspé and Sept-Îles.
The sessions broadcast on-line will be archived in
the BAPE website for ten days, at which time official
transcripts will be publicly-released by the Commission
on the same site and in regional reading rooms.
The Commission invites citizens to enhance the inquiry
In an effort to enhance the inquiry and public
hearings on the topic and make it possible for those
who cannot attend the public hearings to participate
in the question process with the Commission and the
public, the Commission invites interested persons
to submit questions via the internet between
April 5 and April 30, 2004. The Commission
will process, summarize and classify the questions
for inclusion in their question process as well as
that of the public. In this way, responses will be
provided, to the extent possible, during the Commission’s
scheduled sessions. Frequent interrogations on some
subjects will also be emphasised during the sessions.
Questions submitted via the internet after April 26
and those for which no response is provided during
the sessions will be forwarded, as necessary, in writing
to the resource person concerned. The rules for participation
will be indicated on the BAPE website. Please bear
in mind that the objective of this first part of the
hearing is to establish and clarify all aspects of
the stakes related to seismic surveys in the St. Lawrence
Gulf and Estuary.
