A member of the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec and of the Association des architectes paysagistes du Québec, Ms. Parent has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Université de Montréal as well as a recognized Master’s degree in urban planning. From 1972 to 1977, she held positions with the federal government and in the private sector for an engineering firm. From 1977 to 2009, she was the president and CEO of PLA (Parent Latreille et Associés) Consultants, a firm of urban planning, landscape architecture and environmental consultants. In 2001, Ms. Parent was appointed president of the National Committee on the Environmental Protocols of InfraGuide, a team of experts in charge of examining the environmental conditions and opportunities associated with municipal infrastructures and climate change. During her career, she was a professor and lecturer at the Faculté d’aménagement of Université de Montréal. She has been active in the municipal world as a councillor, president of the urban Planning Advisory Committee and acting mayor of a borough of the city of Montréal where she served as a member of the Transportation, Environment and Sustainable Development Commission. A part-time member of the BAPE since September 2008, Ms. Parent has been a full-time member since April 14, 2009.
