PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON WATER MANAGEMENT (PART TWO)
PRESENTATION OF BRIEFS BY THE CREE NATION
Québec City, November 22, 1999 – The Commission on water management in Québec of the Bureau d’audiences publiques sur l’environnement (BAPE) and the James Bay Advisory Committee on the Environment (JBACE) hereby announce that a joint public hearing will be held to hear the Cree nation’s views on water management.
The public session will take place in Montréal, the afternoon of December 1, 1999, and will be co-chaired by Romeo Saganash, JBACE Chairman, and André Beauchamp, Chairman of the Commission on water management in Québec.

During this session, the BAPE Commission and the JBACE will hear the briefs and opinions
of individuals, groups and representatives of the Cree nation who have registered to
express their views on water management. Anyone wishing to submit a brief without
presenting it at the public hearing has until November 25, 1999 to forward it to the
Commission secretariat.
This public session constitutes Part Two of the public consultation mandate that the Minister of the Environment conferred on the BAPE. The Commission on water management in Québec and the JBACE had agreed on special terms and conditions for consulting the Cree nation in keeping with the terms of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and the mandate of the James Bay Advisory Committee on the Environment.
